The Alder Tree, from which these delicately detailed engraved wood ornaments are made, is found in 30 species throughout the world. Valued for its hardness, it is highly sought after for carving, millwork and interior furniture. Getting started

We prepare the artwork for you (no charge!). All we need is a snapshot or a high-resolution (300 dpi) file of the scene you want on your ornament.

Size

Your ornament may be as large as 4” x 4” and still be within our regular pricing. Larger sizes may be quoted by special request.

Packaging

Each ornament is individually mounted on an antique paper card, then enclosed within a crystal clear envelope. The back of the card tells the story about the traditional use of wood at Christmas.

Wood & Christmas

The fragrance and texture of wood has long been associated with the celebration of Christmas. Its use extends back to the Middle Ages, when the Paradise Tree was popularized in Medieval Christian passion plays. By the early 1600s, fir trees were found in German homes and decorated with flowers, fruit, wafers, sugar and figures made from a variety of materials. From holly to fruit trees, from bushes to branches, the diversity of wood in its many forms has been a part of Christmas for nearly a millennium.
