Tips for sending artwork:
- Send several images - If we are to create your artwork, it is helpful
to have several images to work from. For instance: a sketch may have
just the perspective, but your postcard might show how many windows
are behind the big tree you'd like us to remove, and the photo shows
the rich detail that is so important. The more information you provide,
the better. Be sure to tell us if you have a preferred view.
- If you have Camera Ready Artwork - Crisp black line art or half tone.
Camera ready artwork should be at least 150% of the size at which we
will be reproducing it. Please note that due to the nature of ceramic
glazes, minor changes may need to made in artwork and PMS colors cannot
be matched exactly (but we do come darn close).
- Full Color Artwork - Our best full-color reproductions are made from
original artwork, or professional slides or photos of the artwork. Due
to the nature of ceramic glazes, it is impossible to match the color
balance exactly in full color reproduction.
- E-mailing Artwork - Please do not e-mail files larger than 500
kb. Compressing files in the .jpg or .gif format will easily get
most files to a reasonable size. Then, attach the image file to your
e-mail and send it on it's way. Read on for more information. Or you
can send the art on a disc. . .
- Art sent on disk - LDA uses Corel software on PCs. Because many designers
use neither of these, we've found that cross platform bitmaps work best
for submitting artwork. The following file types work well: .tif
, .bmp , .jpg ,
.gif. If you're sending artwork just to 'give us an idea' of
what we should create, 150 dpi is fine (for example, a photo that a
sketch can be made from). If the artwork you send will be used 'as is'
(such as a logo), send the artwork at 300 dpi and at least 200% of the
reproduced size. If you have any questions about which file type to
use or how to submit your artwork, please contact a staff artist at
LDA@LDAcreate.com. Large files
(too large for a floppy - 1.4 Mb) should be submitted on a PC-formatted
Zip Disc.
